In my first blog post I already told you some basics about me, and why I moved to Australia, but as time goes by that post drifts further and further into the abyss of the internet. I thought it would be handier to have a little space with the basics, for those who are interested.

My name is Reinier. I was born in 1988, and raised in the Dutch city of The Hague, spending most summers and winters in Saanenland, Switzerland. By now my family has scattered across western Europe, adding France as a regular stop on my travels. For almost all my life, I never considered myself to be the travelling type, since I’d rather visit family than going on far away trips. Something which I can no longer claim now that I’ve been peddling between Australia and Europe for most of 2016. I’ve finally settled in Perth in April 2017, and am currently working towards obtaining a commercial pilot license for helicopters.

I’m married to Emma, and she would describe me as a funny, smart, sweet, and caring “straighty 180” kind of guy. I say she’s biased. I don’t have a lot of rules that govern my life, because I believe that just limits ones potential. The few rules I try to adhere to on a daily basis are in the lines of doing what you know is good, try to not take myself and life too seriously, and if something is worth doing, it is worth doing well. And I never discuss religion or politics with strangers.

I’m sure you’ll get a clearer image of who I am as a person by reading my posts, so I’ll try not to influence your view of me too much, as I might be wrong and you’ll figure that out over time. If you, however, have questions for me which might keep you up at night, don’t hesitate to leave a comment and ask, or fill out the form below.
